Sign Release Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 29, 2026 · App: Sign Release (Android and iOS) and its web form at signrelease.app
Summary
Sign Release lets photographers fill in and sign stock-agency release forms (model, property and editorial consent). Releases, photos and signatures are stored on your phone. They only leave it when you use features that need it (web forms for models, location, backup or email), and we never sell data or use it for advertising.
Who is responsible
The developer of Sign Release, based in Spain. Contact: support@signrelease.app.
What data is processed and why
1. Data stored only on your phone
- The releases you create: photographer, model or property owner details (name, address, phone, email, date of birth, ethnicity or other fields each agency asks for), signatures, model photo and generated PDFs.
- Saved models and recent places.
- The details of each signature for the signature certificate: date, time and time zone, device model and OS version and, only if the app already has location permission, the coordinates at the time of signing. They are printed in a separate PDF created when you export (can be turned off in Settings).
This data is not sent to our servers. If you turn on folder backup, PDFs are copied to the folder you choose (e.g. Google Drive, iCloud or Dropbox) under that service's terms. If you use “Send copy”, the PDF is sent with your own email app.
2. Web forms for models (groups and single forms)
When you create a group or send a form to a model, the app uploads the group details to Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore): group name, agencies, shoot date and description, your photographer name, your message for models and, if you had typed them, the model's details to prefill the form. The model fills in the form in a browser and their answers (personal details, signatures and photo) are kept in Firebase until your phone downloads them; they are then deleted from the server. Deleting the group or cancelling the form also deletes them from the server. If your phone never downloads them, they are deleted automatically after 30 days.
Along with the signature, the web form sends the model's time, time zone, language, and browser and operating system, for the signature certificate. For single forms, the server also records when the form was opened (time only, with no visitor data) and whether it was submitted, to show you its status and remind you once if it hasn't been signed after 24 hours.
To know which groups are yours, the app creates an anonymous Firebase account (no name, email or password) and, to notify you when a model submits a form, it stores your device's push notification token.
3. Location
Only when you tap the location button, the app gets your position and sends it to the system geocoding service (Google on Android, Apple on iOS) to write the place name in the release. Also, if you have already granted location permission, signing on the phone saves the coordinates in the release for the signature certificate. Your position stays on your phone: we don't send it to our servers.
4. Purchases (Sign Release Pro)
Pro subscriptions and the one-time purchase are made through Google Play or the App Store. Payment is handled by Google or Apple: the app only learns whether the purchase is active and we have no access to your payment details.
5. Crashes and statistics
- Firebase Crashlytics (on by default, can be turned off in Settings): crash reports with device model, OS and app version, and an installation identifier.
- Google Analytics for Firebase (off until you accept it): anonymous feature usage. Not used for advertising.
- Firebase App Check and Remote Config: protect the service from abuse and download configuration and agency forms.
Legal basis
Providing the service you request (forms, groups, notifications, location), your consent (Analytics, camera and location permissions) and our legitimate interest in a crash-free app (Crashlytics, which you can turn off).
Sharing
We don't sell or share data with third parties for commercial purposes. The only providers processing it on our behalf are Google (Firebase, Google Play services and geocoding on Android) and Apple (geocoding and iOS services). Data may be processed outside the European Economic Area with GDPR safeguards (standard contractual clauses).
Retention
- Data on your phone: until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Model answers in Firebase: until your phone downloads them (usually minutes).
- Group details (including status times): until you delete the group, cancel the form or the single form is received.
- Forms that are never downloaded: deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Crashlytics reports: 90 days. Analytics data: per Google's retention settings (up to 14 months).
Security
All communication is encrypted (HTTPS). Firebase rules prevent anyone but the device that created a group from reading model answers. You can lock the app with Face ID, fingerprint or passcode.
Your rights
You can access, correct, delete, object to, restrict or port your data by writing to support@signrelease.app, and complain to your data protection authority (in Spain, aepd.es). See how to delete your data.
Children
The app is intended for adult photographers. Minor releases are signed by the minor's parent or guardian.
